Xiaoruan Strings

The xiaoruan is a section instrument: the ruan solo repertoire belongs to the zhongruan and the daruan, while the xiaoruan sits at the top of the plucked section and has to be heard through it. Beijing Xinghai makes three grades for it, standard, high-pitch and professional high-pitch, and they do not feel the same under the hand, so check which one your instrument is strung with before you order. Zhongruan strings are not a substitute, because the scale length and the tension are wrong. Only one of the four usually fails, so buy by string number and leave the rest of the set in place.
