Wang Yongde, a native of Shanghai, is an erhu educator and performer, a professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, a master's-degree supervisor, Honorary President of the Huqin Professional Committee of the Chinese National Orchestral Association, and Deputy Director of the Abing Art Committee of the Chinese National Orchestral Society.

Wang Yongde has compiled such teaching materials as "Erhu for Youth," "Arpeggio Exercises for the Erhu," and "Chinese Erhu Grading Materials: Performance-Tips Edition." In 1993 he was granted a State Council special expert allowance by the Ministry of Culture; in 2008 he received the Outstanding Literary and Artistic Talent Fund Award from the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee; in 2013 he was named an Advanced Individual in Shanghai Public Culture; in 2015 he received the Shanghai Senior Professors' Award for Outstanding Science-Education Work; and in 2016 he was honored by the Chinese National Orchestral Association with the Lifetime Contribution Award in Folk Music Arts.
