A renowned guzheng performer and educator, and a leading representative figure of the Shaanxi guzheng school. He is a professor in the Folk Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, a master's-degree supervisor for guzheng studies, Deputy Secretary-General of the Guzheng Society of the Chinese Musicians Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the Guzheng Professional Committee of the Chinese National Orchestral Society, and a member of the Chinese Musicians Association. Born into a family of folk musicians, he joined the China Song and Dance Ensemble in 1977 and has remained active in the music world ever since, drawing on the strengths of both the northern and southern schools. Beginning in 1979, when at the invitation of the China Record Company he first recorded "Qin Sang Qu," he tirelessly promoted Shaanxi guzheng music, becoming a herald in the revival of the Shaanxi Qin-zheng school and making important contributions to its pioneering and development.
